© Tatiana TUR (USA), “Vechirniy Kyiv”(“Evening
Kyiv”), March 16th, 1996 Holocaust. Truth about Babyn Yar. Documental research (Part
four) It is worth to
remember for Levitas about one more of the many contradictions in the evidence
of the “eyewitnesses” and “those who escaped”. Almost all Jews who escaped in two years
after the “slaughter” in Babyn Yar witnessed that in the last days of September
and the first days of October
1941 they escaped from execution, hiding naked in ravines. They told that at
that time it was so hot and dry, that one Jewish woman had to give to drink her
saliva to the bare baby because of lack of water. In the article of
I.Levitas we read: “One woman told, that she and her female friend (they were 12
years old) were given a jar with water and cotton wool plugs, they were asked to
moisten lips of children, who were with them. —
Pity for kids, they want to
drink, — men
said. They day was warm,
children really wanted to drink and female friends carefully moistened kids’
lips. Then it was found out that the poison was in the jars, and soon after that
kids died. The woman remembers that it was the second of October – her
birthday”. However, this evidence is
impossible to coordinate with the recollection of the general Bagramyan, where
it is said about the weather on the 29th of September: “It was
raining. Cars went into a skid, sticking in the mud. Fascists stopped the stuck
cars”. (Page 377). Germans wrote the same in the
daily writings (Kriegstagebuch), that in this time a
“bottomless bog” was standing in the environs of Kyiv, and about the weather it
was mentioned: ·
“The 28th of
September: cold, cloudy, no rain. The seven-day great fire in Kyiv is
stopping”. ·
“The 29th of
September: it rained all day long, roads turned into sludge. In the evening it
cleared up away, it became cold. The fire in Kyiv was almost coped
with”. ·
“The 30th of
September: it snows and rains. The roads are becoming worse”. ·
“The 1st of
October: it is wet, the roads in the environs of the 48th division of
artillery turned into the bottomless bog”. ·
“The 2nd of
October: the sky is cloudless, the weather is autumnal. Roads are getting
dry”. ·
“The 3rd of
October: the sky is cloudless, the weather is autumnal. Most of roads got
dry”. And here some questions
arise: ·
How did Asia Nesgort and other
“who escaped” survived being naked in snags with babies on hands in the ravine,
residing out in the rain and snow, when there were no dry leaves on the
ground? ·
How did “escaped” I.Pronicheva
could depose in the Darmstadt court that during this four days she died from the
thirst and heat? In our opinion, I.Levitas with
at least a little bit of impartiality should give credence more to Germans and
Bagramyan, than the “escaped” congeners. ·
Why did the clerk of Wehrmacht
would lie about the weather? ·
And even if it was so, then
why the Soviet war chroniclers (Bagramyan based his reminiscence upon their
records) had to copy Germans in the lies? In the brochure about Babyn
Yar that was published in 1991 by O.Shlayen and
I.Levitas, ·
“Escaped” Raisa Dashkevich for
some reason or other mentioned that in the day of military shootings “it was
cold”. ·
On the other hand, the
juveniles, who gave to drink the poisoned water to the Jewish children, mention
that it was “warm”. How can these discordant testimonies be brought together to
the one truthful? And why did the mothers,
seeing that their Jewish children were dying because young Jewish women had
poisoned them, didn’t protest? A critical person will never believe such fibs of
“those who escaped”. (To
