Jan 01, 2012 · Tractor. John Deere 450B. Hello, I am new to this forum. Have some land to clear, found a 1973 JD450B dozer, 6 way blade, undercarrige seems ok. Machine has been sitting for 3 years. It starts and runs well, moves forward and reverse great but does not steer at all. The left steering lever has some resistance but the right just pulls back.

I have recently brought a 450c with 6 way blade and rippers EX australian army with only 1600 hrs in great condition, will post pics soon, how-ever when using it digging shallow drains on friday I noticed occassionally when engauging left steering clutch the forward motion to both tracks will cease and nothing loads up

You might want to loosen the brake so you can pull back hard without dragging the engine down. Drive around with the levers pulled. Shift back and forth and try to get the crawler pushing a load.

Jul 16, 2010 · I am looking at a JD 450C dozer. Here is the problem with it. It is a power shift model. It started with the steering getting weak. Then it got to where it wouldn't pull in higher gears. Now it will barely move and the hydraulics are very slow. The owner said he did some checking and some people said it might be a charge pump. I am not sure.
